Day 6- Crazy is as Crazy does.

So the weekend wasn't as rough or hard as I thought it would be. Yes, I did have some conscious moments where I had to decide, "Do I cheat and regret it tomorrow, or do I eat right and clap myself on the back?" Thankfully my will power is still remaining strong for the time being and I was able to enjoy the weekend with minimal cheating.

My adventures out on Saturday proved to be nice. My bf and I went out to lunch with his parents where I enjoyed some wheat pasta with sauce (yes, this WAS one of healthiest meals on the menu). So the food was amazing and the company was too...(luckily I'm in one of those relationships where we actually like each others family otherwise, my diet would have gone out the window after a couple of shots were taken).

Saturday Girls night was also amazing! Enjoyed some much needed female time and I was not too hungry after the amazing lunch so only ended up having a salad for dinner out....no, I'm not starving myself, the appetite level was just diminished which provided and easy answer to what to have for dinner...I loved it!

So to the title of this blog....With everything else that is going on in my life right now, ie...starting a diet, exercising (yes, I am exercising...I walk about 30 minutes a day around our neighborhood), getting use to living with the bf, and everything at work, we decided we needed to throw something else in there. So this weekend my bf and I picked up two kittens at the local animal shelter. Now to explain the craziness of this you must know first of all that I am NOT a cat person (our original purpose was to go look at the dogs), but my bf is. So we looked at one that he thought was cute and then saw him playing with his sister and could not separate them...thus we ended up with two kittens this weekend and needed to do the necessary running around to get all the stuff they require....as I said, we were not prepared to be bringing home any animal, let alone two! But they are completely adorable and have thus far provided a lot of laughs. So uh, needless to say, the diet is still going strong and thanks to our two new purchases this weekend my exercise/chasing has increased dramatically.

Monday brings to an end Week 1 and my first weigh-in since I started! Wish me luck!

I saw that you have a "go to" easy food of ceral. You should try Original Fiber One (it kind of looks like cat food) but it's actually very tasty and high fiber/low calories. Good luck! You're doing a great job so far!

here is a really great piece of advise. not sure if anyone told you yet. So you are to eat 5 - 6 meals a day right? Some people decide that there will be one day a week of cheating. Not going out of control, but eating whatever you want. I have found that this makes people feel like crap. here is the AWESOME solution and it does work. If you eat 6 small meals a day, that means that one meal a day you get to cheat for 6 days. that doesnt mean cheat on the same meal each day because that doesnt work either. this is what it does mean:
Monday - cheat breakdast
Tuesday - cheap am snack
Wednesday - cheat lunch
thursday - cheat pm snack
Friday - cheat dinner
Saturday - cheat before bed snack
Sunday - completely good girl.

now during your cheats you still have to monitor your intake. however doing it this way you are never cheating yourself of anything (no more wanting to snack at night)! this also means that Sunday you can have your pizza... in moderation. think about your coming week... if you are going out or have something special on certain days then those days cheat during the meal that the occasion falls into.
When i go out to eat, I always cut my meals in half and ask for a container right away. put half in there so i dont see it and eat the other half. Look to see what items give you a lot of protien. If you eat mainly fish and chicken at home, have a small piece of steak at the restaurant. Go for steamed veggies with pepper on then instead of fries. Tea or water instead of soda. Wine instead of beer. If you must have hard liquor go for the clear stuff not the dark stuff.eat until satisfied and not until you are full. Many trainers i know will tell you the same. Good Luck!
P.s. go get Nutrition for dummies from the book store. it is great stuff.

Well sounds like you had a great weekend... keep up the good work.!!

Ps there is the website that I used to go to when I was on a hardcore diet. (I will have to get that to you later... ) but it has every eating out place you can think of and all the nutritional facts on their food.

So I would look at that site before I went out to dinner so I would know what I could order. You will be suprised at what you can have!
